Links
The Washington DC area is fortunate to have so many colleges with strong ballroom dance clubs.
- An American Ballroom Companion contains the full text
and images of lots of dance instruction manuals, but they're old; as the page says, circa 1490 - 1920. Maybe not very
practical today, but still interesting to look at and to see how the times have changed.
- Ballroom Dancing Information, general and specific,
is a page created by one of the BAM officers that contains a lot of useful information (and links) on a variety of topics
including dance etiquette, syllabus lists, competition help, and lists of figures and combinations taught in some of the
dance classes offered by BAM over the years.
- Ballroomdancers.com is an online resource for the ballroom dance and dancesport
enthusiast with images, movies, syllabi, variations, and several glossaries.
- DanceTalk.com is a bulletin board system for dance discussions,
broken into categories, just in case the rec.arts.dance newsgroup isn't enough.
- Dancers' Archive has lots of stuff on all types of dance (FTP site)
- DanceScape is geared towards competitive ballroom dancing (dancesport).
- Latin-Dance.com contains lots of information related to latin dancing primarily
in the DC area
- Let's Dance! is somewhat local to the areas of New York
City, Philadelphia, and New Jersey, but still has a bunch of general information, too.
- List of Lists of Dance Music provided by the
U. Penn club.
- Much Ado About Ballroom Dancing gives a good introduction, however this
page's author has gone commercial by publishing a book and removing quite a bit of information from the web page. The
page is still somewhat useful, but it was a lot better before the book came out.
- Rec.Arts.Dance FAQ has got such a variety of information that it's worth
listing here.
- WebSurfer's Guide to Ballroom Dance provides a lot of links to other
web sites with instructional content to help you learn to dance on-line.
- The World Dance Plaza is a good general site with lots of info. In particular,
I'd suggest checking out their statements archive, it has many nice little dance tips for everything.
- Yahoo's Ballroom Dancing Page
